In order to give our pupils a holistic education, Hermitage House offers a wide variety of co-curricular activities. Focus is put on the importance of enhancing each child’s talent together with developing life skills. Large amounts of attention is given to approaching each activity with the correct positive mindset by the student in which team work, social skills, determination and skill development is emphasized.

With highly qualified and motivated coaches, all our students are exposed to a high level of coaching. The students partake in all the summer and winter sports. Many fixtures are played throughout the year against reputable schools, locally, in and around Port Elizabeth as well as in Grahamstown. With good coaches, many fixtures and motivated students, it results in a good formula to develop each child to the best they can be.

Cricket, Tennis.

Netball, Rugby, Hockey, Tennis and Athletics.

Our students are exposed to a variety of musical forms. The Grade 3-7’s enjoy reading music and they all learn to play the recorder. These students have many opportunities to perform at functions throughout the year. Individual lessons are offered whereby a student has the opportunity to learn how to play a specific instrument.

All our students take part in the school’s annual performance. This performance is either in the form of a school play or a cultural performance which includes many different types of cultural activities.
Our students also attend a cultural festival in which they can display their cultural talents, ranging from musical items, dance, poetry, public speaking, to different art work.

Chess plays a large role in our enrichment program, often having fixtures against other schools. The enrichment program also exposes our students to:

Aerobics, Pilates, Dance and Team building activities.

A large focus of the co-curricular activities is to incorporate FUN in all we do, and let this be the backbone to our success.
