Nestled in a beautiful valley, our school setting offers unique opportunities for exploration and connection with nature. The surrounding environment is not just a backdrop but an extension of our classrooms. Enjoy keeping up to date with everything we are busy with.
"Sitting under a zinc roof, listening to the rain beating down... it’s God’s music." There is a particular rhythm to life at Hermitage House when the clouds settle over our valley. As I sit here writing this, the steady drumming above reminds me of how fortunate we are. We are deeply thankful for the rain that sustains our grounds and our community, and we remain truly blessed to have a roof over our heads—a simple, sturdy shelter that allows us to appreciate the storm from a place of safety, something not all communities are fortunate to have.
It has been a thoroughly enjoyable start to the year. Watching the school gates open and seeing the energy return to our hallways is always a highlight, but I have especially enjoyed spending more time with our preschool phase recently. All credit must go to Aniska and her team for creating such a fun, vibrant, and enjoyable learning space for our future superstars.
As the curtain closes on the 2025 academic year, I find myself reflecting with immense pride on the achievements, growth, and vibrant community spirit that has defined Hermitage House. This has truly been a positive and transformative year for our school , one where we have witnessed our students excel, not only academically, but also in resilience, kindness, and maturity. Congratulations to all our students and staff for making 2025 a truly memorable chapter!
On behalf of the entire school community, I want to extend my sincere gratitude. I strongly believe that a school’s success lies in the strength of its community and this past short month has proven that once again.
As we reach the conclusion of another busy and fulfilling term, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for our students, staff, and parents. This term has been a testament to our collective resilience and dedication, I could see the staff and kids were just holding on to that excitement of the holliday. This term, our staff has been working tirelessly behind the scenes, participating in various courses and webinars offered by the Keller Institute.
We have had some fantastic events recently, and I have received so much positive feedback. Career Dress-Up Day was very interesting, and it was wonderful to see the creativity of our students. We also had a lot of fun on our PJ Day, and the children truly enjoyed wearing their pajamas to school. The children and staff fully engaged with Bok Friday, and I am convinced that after that first game against Australia, Rassie heard our kids' cries and made a plan!
It has been an incredibly busy term. Our learners have travelled and played, carrying the Hermitage House name high wherever they've gone. The exposure we are getting is brilliant, and time and again, people are blown away by the way our children play, often asking, "Where in the world do these kids come from?
I hope you and the children had a restful extra break. We have a very busy time ahead of us until the end of term, so please keep a close eye on the Google Calendar and our class groups for updates. The children thrive during this period, and we encourage you to support them by attending their matches whenever possible.
As we draw the curtain on a bustling and productive Term 1, I find myself reflecting on the remarkable progress and achievements of our students. The reports accompanying this newsletter are a testament to their hard work and the dedication of our exceptional teaching staff. I encourage you to take the time to review them carefully and celebrate your child’s individual growth.
February has been a month filled with tremendous energy at Hermitage House! Kids are happy, shoes are off and they can’t wait to play “open the gates” Our recent fundraising efforts during the Herald Cycle Race were an overwhelming success! The support from parents, students, and staff was truly remarkable.
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the start of another fantastic year at Hermitage House. To all our learners and parents, whether you're returning or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of our school community. This is a place where lifelong friendships are formed and valuable lessons are learned.
